Alypia octomaculata

The Eight-Spotted Forester (''Alypia octomaculata'') is a moth of the Noctuidae family. It is found in the Eastern part of the United States, Texas and Florida. It is also present in parts of Canada.
The moth is black, with 2 whitish or yellowish spots in each wing.〔Borror, Donald J. & White, Richard E., ''Insects - A Peterson Field Guide'', Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston, New York, 1970, plate #12〕 The wingspan is 30–37 mm. The moth flies from April to June in one generation in the north. In the south it has a second generation, which flies in August.
The larvae feed on virginia creeper.
